Interests:
Reading. Particularly C.S. Lewis, Jo Rowling, Louisa May Alcott, Alexander Dumas and recent historical fiction such as Jennifer Donnelly and Caleb Carr's work. I've just finished A Nothern Light by Jenn Donnelly and am madly, madly, madly in love with it. It's a perfect book for any girl from the ages of 15-18 to read, I think. Wow. I've started on her Tea Rose, and am loving it. I'm glad it's about four times longer than the previous book of hers I've read. She's so strong, I love her work.

Writing. I'm currently on staff at The Explorer, and I either do community interviews or my own articles. I started last month, so we'll see how soon I get sacked. I also love fiction. I love, love, love fiction. I want to be a young adult writer of the published variety. Reasearching everything but scientific or mathematical stuff is fun for me, just because it's stuff I can use eventually, or so I like to think. I don't write poetry. I had a spurt of poetry-writing years ago, and am glad it's over. It'll save any potential readers from having to weed out the most melodramatic part of me, I hope. I'll write non-fiction, too; it's almost as good as fiction. I'm just not enough of a guru on any subject to make anything of non-fiction, except for personal happenings. Hence the journal.

Coffee. I gew up on Starbucks, but my all-time favorite is Boca Java's Surfing Safari. I'll do many things for the promise of espresso. Nearly every weekday afternoon you can find me at one of two (soon to be three) coffee shops in town.

English Equitation. I used to compete in Hunters, and now I'm riding again as much as possible (even though I haven't ridden in a month and don't forsee it happening again until the new year of 2005 - just a few weeks off). I've got an amazing stable, a wonderful instructor and several great horses to ride. It's just not taking up a prime spot in my life at the moment, but it's still there when I need to have some riding therapy, which is excellent.

10 Questions
1. School: I'm out of high school and collecting money and scholarships to maybe start next year. I'm praying for NYU.

2. Residence:Small flat, equipped with a bedroom, a bathroom, a teensy kitchen and a living room. All hard-wood floors. Built in the 1880's. It's practically perfect in every way. Too bad I won't be able to afford this in NYC.

3. Place of work: A very, very nice hotel. And I mean very nice. Mostly-wonderful people there, too.

4. Musical favorites: I'm not as much into music as I used to be. Still, I'm listening to Yellowcard, Jet and Counting Crows a lot these days. Always and forever matchbox twenty. I listen to NPR for fun.

5. Favorite Harry Potter book: Order of the Phoenix. Why? I love the development all the characters have, from McGonnagall to Ron, the twins to Dumbledore, Harry to Neville. That was the book I'd been waiting for. Only, you know, Sirius? That part didn't happen in my mind. I'll still look at sites and when he's listed as "dead" I'll honestly be shocked for a moment. I'm daft, I suppose.

6. Favorite TV shows: The X-Files, Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Wonderfalls. All currently off the air, but I have a wicked DVD collection. Currently, I don't watch any TV on a regular basis - it's strange - but I've seen an episode of Desperate Housewives and I've decided I must get the first season when it's available, as well as that of Lost, which I haven't seen any of, but it looks like something right up and down and bouncing off the walls of my dear alley. Plus, Dom! Also, the day the latest Alias season comes out, I get it and watch it in a weekend. And I'm a sucker for classic TV. Green Acres, Dick van Dyke & Mary Tyler Moore...

7. Favorite Movies: Serenity, when it comes out. I'm sure of it. Also Much Ado About Nothing, Little Women (1994) Newsies and Girl, Interrupted. The last three are my therapy movies. These are by no means my list of 'greatest movies ever made', but they are ones I can watch over and over and over and over again.

8. Favorite Actors & Actresses: Jude Law, Christian Bale, Christian Coulson, Angelina Jolie, Winona Ryder, Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Thompson, Maggie Smith, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery (from the Hitchcock years) and Gabriel Byrne.

9. Favorite Fictional Characters: Mandras, from Captain Correlli's Mandolin. McGonnagall, Hermione, and Tom Riddle from the HP books. Aslan & Bree from The Chronicles of Narnia. Jo from Little Women. Many more - I'll add as I recall them.

10. Favorite Food: Anything creamy, loaded salads, gourmet sandwiches, pasta and chicken. Milk chocolate. Cherries. Pumpkin and ginger-y stuff.
